Envy (The Fallen Angels #3) by J.R. Ward

Envy (The Fallen Angels, #3)Envy by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A man and a woman tread the lines of danger, desire, and deliverance in the new novel of the Fallen Angels from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

As the son of a serial killer, homicide detective Thomas "Veck" DelVecchio, Jr., grew up in the shadow of evil. Now, on the knife-edge between civic duty and blind retribution, he atones for the sins of his father- while fighting his inner demons. Assigned to monitor Veck is Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly, whose interest in him is both professional and arousingly personal. And Veck and Sophia have another link: Jim Heron, a mysterious stranger with too many answers... to questions that are deadly. When Veck and Sophia are drawn into the ultimate battle between good and evil, their fallen angel savior is the only thing that stands between them and eternal damnation.

I absolutely love the way that Ward writes. She manages to get me emotionally involved with the characters. I love the little peeks into the Black Dagger Brotherhood series in this book as well. I have as yet not read the book that Veck appears in but intend to soon as I am very interested in seeing the tie.

I experienced the range of emotions in this one. I felt sorry for Veck, having had the stigma of his father to live his life with and always doubting himself when he was so obviously, at least to me, a good soul. I was so pissed at Reilly. That she could be so gullible and so easily believe the worst of Veck. I was heartbroken for Adrian. I am a little concerned for Jim with this obsession over Sissy. It seems a little unnatural and to be honest a little bit creepy.

As usual with Ward's books a great read that leaves me wanting more real soon.

Crave (The Fallen Angels #2) by J.R. Ward

Crave (The Fallen Angels, #2)Crave by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seven deadly sins. Seven souls that must be saved. One more no-holds- barred battle between a fallen angel with a hardened heart and a demon with everything to lose.

Isaac Rothe is a black ops soldier with a dark past and a grim future. The target of an assassin, he finds himself behind bars, his fate in the hands of his gorgeous public defender Grier Childe. His hot attraction to her can only lead to trouble-and that's before Jim Heron tells him his soul is in danger. Caught up in a wicked game with the demon who shadows Jim, Isaac must decide whether the soldier in him can believe that true love is the ultimate weapon against evil.

Before I get into how much I enjoyed this book I have to give kudos to Ms. Ward for her wonderful ability to create a world and draw her readers into it. In both this series and her Black Dagger Brotherhood series she creates an intricate world where the reader becomes immersed in the lives of the characters in such a way as to create emotional ties between the reader and the characters in the books.

I loved this 2nd book in the Fallen Angel series. I went into this book wondering to myself how in the world was Ms. Ward going to be able to write a book in this series where the good guys lose one. We fall in love with the main characters and how would she ever be able to write a believable story where these much loved characters end up turning away from good and joining the evil team. I mean good can not always triumph, as much as we would all love for that to be the case. So somewhere along the line the demon has to win a soul or two. Well my question was answered and with a twist that just seemed so fitting, but still leaves us breathless to see what happens next!

Love this series and this author!!

Covet (Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward

Covet (Fallen Angels, #1) Covet by J.R. Ward

Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about-his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charge with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option. Vin DiPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he's good with that-until fate intervenes in the form of a tough- talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. But then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart-and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul.

Being a big fan of Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I started reading this book with high expectations. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.

The first book in a new series which has some similarities to the BDB series was a definite 'stay up all night and read' book. The premise of the book -- angels versus demons in a final deciding battle to rule -- is an interesting one.

Jim Heron is the one chosen by both sides to be the 'quarterback' in this final game. He has enough good and evil in him to satisfy both sides.

I love the fact that the Fallen Angels are big bad Harley riders (one of the similarities to BDB).

I can not wait to see where Ms. Ward takes this series. I will be waiting none to patiently for the next in the series to see how she is going to carry on the storyline!
