I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. The beginning was a little rough. We seem to be introduced to the main character, Allie, in the middle of her character development. She finally comes together further into the book as we learn more about her history but it made for a little confusion early on. I kept feeling like I had missed reading a previous book that should have told us more about her. (The author also gives her an annoying habit of saying 'Poop' that is a huge turn off). But as the story unfolds it got much more interesting to the point that I could not put it down and sat up well into the night to finish it. I look forward to more books by this author.

ETA-- 3/08 and I now realize why as this is technically #2 in the series. LOL Have the rest on MT. TBR.


ETA-- 6/20/14 -- I decided to reread this as I recently read the first book in the series and to be honest I did not really remember reading this one years ago. I guess that I have a greater appreciation for this type of book because I probably would have rated it 4 stars this time around.

Read this so that I could go see the movie with my daughters. I had seen somewhere that this was the modern 'Love Story' and I think that is a very accurate description. Fantastic, if heart wrenching read. Can't wait to see the characters come to life in the movie.

This was a very enjoyable romance. I just recently hit the Big Five-OH so thought that it would be fun to read. I quite enjoyed the humor, romance and story line. The characters were great and I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

This was a quick interesting read. Not a lot of character development, but for a 50 page read it was not bad. Plot was good and I can imagine the world being expanded for a full length novel.

Totally enjoyed this quirky romance. I forget how much I enjoy sappy romances until I start reading them. Seems that I don't really read them as much as I probably should.

Loved Joy's personality and her humor. Enjoyed the story line and look forward to reading more about the Dark Ones and their Beloved.

Decided to read this since Valentine's Day was around the corner. I enjoyed all of the stories but my favorite had to be 'Every Part of You' by Lisa Cach. Not a typical zombie story but an interesting one nonetheless. How can you not love a zombie who craves sweets and not brains? lol

I liked 'Zombiewood Confidential' by Marianne Mancusi simply because it was more of a typical zombie story with the brain eating zombies of horror novels as opposed to the lovestruck zombies in the other stories. The story itself was a bit cheesy, but it is Valentine's Day after all.

Though I have not yet read any of Katie MacAlister's 'Dark Ones' books, (I do have them on my TBR mountain though) I still enjoyed 'Bring Out Your Dead'. I look forward to reading more about the characters that I met briefly in this story.

'Gentlemen Prefer Voodoo' by Angie Fox was a sappy love story, but perfect for a Valentine's Day read.

I always forget how much I love romances as I don't read pure romance very often. I enjoy all 4 stories in this anthology.

My favorite was Love Bytes by Sherrilyn Kenyon --- It was a really cute romance about two people who work together and have a crush on each other without the other knowing it.

My last favorite was Santa, Baby by Patricia Ryan simply because it was unlikely. The author does a good job describing Kat's past and personality both of which would make it very improbable that she would declare her love for Jack the day after meeting him. Other than that it was a fun romance.

Overall a fun day of Christmas romance in July!!

Totally enjoying this series. I enjoyed reading Carlos and Caitlyn's story. I love the vamps but it is nice to read a bit about the shifters as well since they have become such a large part of the overall story line. Like how the books are becoming more of a part of the whole story as opposed to just being focused on one couple. Great series!!

She was too wishy washy in her trust of Robby, going back and forth with her suspicion of him. I do like that we are seeing so many other characters in each of the books now. They are reading more like a true continuing series as opposed as just chapters in the lives of the two main characters.

Really enjoyed this story of Ian and Toni. I enjoyed meeting the new and improved Ian and watching him fall in love with Toni. I was especially pleased that this book did not contain the usual angst of the two main characters not realizing that they were in love, or finding some annoying reason whey they could not be in love. No kidnapping of the main characters by an evil nemesis to have to be rescued. Nice romance for the holidays!!

It has been several years since I last read a Love at Stake book but I had not problem remembering the characters and the previous story lines. I adore a little sappy romance now and then and this book works perfectly. Jean Luc is a wonderful main character and his devotion to Heather and her daughter is wonderful. Enjoyed the story, the cast of characters from previous books and the future possibilities.

Originally I was only planning on reading Kerrelyn Sparks Love at Stake story -- A Very Vampy Christmas, but since it is December I decided to go ahead and get in the Christmas mood with a little Holiday reading.

I have to say that I was not too impressed with the first 3 stories in the book. It was very apparent that the characters in the stories were from series that I have not read and that caused the short stories hard to follow. I really felt like I had missed a lot and jumped into the stories in the middle of something.

However the book was redeemed by the last 3 stories. I quite enjoyed the stories by Cait London, Suzanne Macpherson and Kerrelyn Sparks. They all read great as stand alone stories and had interesting story lines and likable characters.

Very enjoyable anthology of Christmas romance. Definitely a bit steamy, sometimes a bit unrealistic, often a bit of fun. I always enjoy a good anthology and even though I always say that I don't read 'romance', I really seem to enjoy it when I do.

While some of the stories seem to be parts of series they all seem to be able to stand alone as well. Normally I am anal about reading series in order, but it did not bother me to read these particular stories.

I have to say that I fully expected this book to be a fun fluff read, between the cover and the description of the characters on the back of the book. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was wrong. It really was a darker storyline than I was expecting, but that is a good thing. I totally enjoyed the story and while there are some interesting and quirky characters this is by no means fluff. Looking forward to more in the series.

But it was still fun to read about things and see where they intertwined with the other book. I did enjoy this one a bit more than the other. It was a little more entertaining of a storyline.

Glad that I decided to read this before sending it on. Great stories. The one that I enjoyed the least was the MJD one which is surprising as she is the only author who I have read before. Her story just did not have the substance that the others did. Granted each story was a lust/love at first sight story, but they were fun and told good stories. Definitely steamy enough for a cold winter night. lol
